About the Service

At HNT, services are conducted mainly in Hebrew. Ari will lead much of the service and chant from the Torah (the Five Books of Moses/Hebrew Bible) and the Haftarah (prophetic reading associated with the Torah portion of the week).

Ari will also deliver a D'var Torah, a speech in English, in which he reflects on the meaning of the week's Torah portion (Terumah), in which G-d instructs Moses to collect gifts from the Israelites in order to build a Tabernacle so that G-d can dwell among the people.

Temple Life

For our friends and family who have never been to a Shabbat morning prayer service, we are glad you are going to be with us.

  • Don't feel obligated to show up at 9:30 on the dot. It is perfectly acceptable to trickle in a bit later and take breaks as needed. Make sure you stay until the end to join us for lunch!
  • Please silence your cell phones while at HNT as electronics are shut off on the Sabbath.
  • Please refrain from taking pictures on Shabbat inside the synagogue.
  • Men and many women typically cover their heads as a sign of respect; kippot (yarmulkes, or little beanie-like caps) are available in the foyer if you choose to wear one. Many will also don a tallit, or prayer shawl, on Shabbat morning.
  • Bar Mitzvah attire means comfortable and festive clothing to honor this special time!

Where to Stay

We have arranged for discounted guest rooms available at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. Please click here to book.

Of course, you are welcome to stay at whatever hotel you choose!

Logistics

We are thrilled for you to share in our joy during the weekend, and we want to make it as easy as possible for you. Here are some tips and info.

  • The easiest airport is Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA).

  • We will have a Lyft code available for guests to use between HNT, Hyatt Regency and the Hatback Grille.
